Editing sample

Some quick rules and examples:

1) When making a new entry, find the page it fits on best and add it to that page in alphabetical order (just to make things relatively easy). Also capitalize first letters of words unless these letters are never capitalized.

Example: You want to add the term n00b to a page. This term could go on several pages, so you decide to put it on the General page. Once on the General page, you click the "edit" button at the bottom of the page. This brings you to a page you can add content too. You scroll down and notice that there are no "n"s on the page yet, so you make a space between "Mod" and "Open-API" and add your definition. Then click save, and you're done. note that we went with "Newbie" as the actual referent for this term.

2) Leave the word at the start of the definition as plain text to begin with (i.e., don't hyperlink it to an external resource). If a specific word or phrase is expanding beyond a few sentences, the moderators will make an internal link within the wiki to provide more space for people to write on it. Feel free to add links to good external resources.

3) If you find a definition for a word or phrase which has another meaning you know, add to the definition or add a secondary definition. This is non-destructive editing.

Example: You find the definition for RTS and want to edit it. Currently it reads - RTS (Real Time Strategy): RTS games do not follow a turn-based playing style.  Instead, you play against the computer (or other players) at the same time that they are playing against you. You think this definition could benefit from a little commentary on standard RTS platforms so you add to it.

It now reads - RTS (Real Time Strategy): RTS games do not follow a turn-based playing style.  Instead, you play against the computer (or other players) at the same time that they are playing against you. RTS games are most often produced for PCs, but there are also a number of these games available on console systems including the much anticipated EndWar by Ubisoft.

4) If you find a definition that has an error in it add a new definition with a note in red requesting moderation, or just leave a note in red text indicating the change you want to the definition.

Example: You read the definition for Virtual School and you feel it is inaccurate because it does not provide enough emphasis on teachers. You leave a note next to the definition so it now reads - Virtual school:  Virtual schools provide online access to academic content, generally with homework deadlines and long-distance teachers (see also "e-learning"). Please moderate this definition to reflect the role that real teachers play in e-learning.
